JFK/DXB/JNB Query
 

I'm traveling with two other paxs on EK204 from JFK to DXB, and then on EK763 from DXB to JNB. The return is from CPT to DBX on EK771, and back to JFK on EK201.

And yes, it's World Cup travel.

I'm seeking help on any type of strategy by which I can upgrade these tickets without paying outrageous FC prices. I'm *G, and have plenty of AMX points.

You won't be able to upgrade unless you are a Skywards member and have the required points.

I think the only way you could do it would be to sign up to Skywards, and then transfer your Amex points (assuming you can do this).

Note that the DXB-JNB/CPT flights will be busy during the world cup, so it's doubtful there will be any room to upgrade into.

You can move AMEX points to Starwoods points & then Starwoods to Skywards.

However, 3 AMEX points only give 1 Skywards mile so the rate of exhange ain't particularly good.

AFAIK this isn't possible.

FC miles upgradeable.
 

1. You would need to join skywards.
2. Transfer all applicable miles to Skywards Miles.
3. Contact EK offices before departure to request upgrades using sufficient miles (if you dont have enough, extra miles can be bought)
4. Airport / Onboard upgrades only available to Silver / Gold members on seat/catering availability basis.
5. Alternatively pay the onboard upgrade fare in cash. :D
