Difference in F between nonstop and 1-stop SIN-(CMB)-DXB

Looking at buying F SIN-DXB 1am ish departure.

I see a nonstop of 7h10m on EK 405 and a 1-stop via CMB on EK 349m, with a 3h30m and a 4h15m segment.

Since I don't need to sleep and I wish to savor the experience I was thinking about taking the 1-stop - there would be two full meal services, presumably, and possible two amenity kits :D

Is that true? Any drawbacks?

If you're lucky you'll get a 'shopping bag'! Amenity kits seem to be a total lottery on EK these days. . .

Does stopping via CMB allow you to get off the plane and use the lounge if there is one? If it does then that will allow you to savour it even more.

Not sure, but the EK F lounge at CMB isn't really worth getting off the plane for.

EK 405 has suites in F and the meal service is basically whatever you want whenever you want it so you can eat all the way if you so wish. You might get two amenity kits - you might even get pyjamas if you are really lucky!

It is a relatively quick thing in CMB. Those who fly on to SIN or DXB usually stay on board the aircraft. Takes about an hour from the moment you touch down until you are up in the air again (unless CMB boarding chaos sets in which happens at times).

I would not take the flight with the stop, everything else being equal. It's just more safety videos, more ICE commercials, and there's no digital widescreen on that flight. Meal service gets rushed because of the short flight time. I find the direct flight more relaxed (in Y at least). Pax stay onboard at CMB. I've taken it once, and only about 15 pax were flying DXB-SIN, everyone else was DXB-CMB and CMB-SIN.

Hi thanks for that deciding tip! I'll take the nonstop and then on to ZRH...

Good point, forgot to mention the darn safety video and ICE adverts. They are worth avoiding any stopover at any price.

If only there was an overide button to skip them.

The only reason to take the stopping flight is because it's often much cheaper in Y than the non-stop. Even for timing - in both directions there's a nonstop that leaves later and arrives earlier.

You don't get to get off in CMB. And yes, you get the safety demonstration ( ^ ) and the ICE advert ( :td::td::td: ) twice.

I did this in October in F. One stop in CMB on the way and direct on the way back. I confirm you don't get off in CMB, you only get one amenity kit, and the safety and ICE instructions come on twice..... The only major difference in F as far as I could tell was that the direct flight was packed but the stopping flight was absolutely empty, indeed we were the only F pax. I don't know if the stop was the cause of that or if we had just chosen a slow travel time but the exclusivservice was excellent.

I have never received an amenity kit on CMB-DXB-CMB flights.

You would only receive it if you were flying DXB-CMB-SIN, as DXB-CMB is too short.

But CMB-SIN is even shorter!
So do they work out who is going to SIN vs CMB, and only hand it out to the former???
