On QR, spilling anything on a passenger is a summary termination offense for the crewmember concerned. No warnings, no second chances. One of their more draconian HR policies IMHO. EK is a little more enlightened.

I was sitting next to a guy on American Airlines a couple years ago that had the FA run into his elbow with a trolley. His drink spilled all over. She didn't apologize but brought some paper towels and a new juice.

15 minutes later, returning from the back with the cart she bumped his elbow AGAIN!!! This time the guy understandably got upset. Who wouldn't.
He was quickly admonished by the purser that if he raises his voice again he will be deemed a terrorist threat and restrained, and for his benefit he should sit down and be quiet, sans juice.

Lesson learn: only order water when flying on AA :D

That does sound about right. Come to think about it, I really do not miss the days flying red eye from YYZ to MIA on an old MD-11 on DL. In J, the headphones would be those old tube thingy ones that never worked, there was no meal service, their way of collecting the empty cans was to walk through the cabin with a huge trash bag and everybody had to throw their empty can and plastic cup into the bag from their seat. More often than not somebody would miss and the cans would hit fellow passengers. If you missed the trash bag lady because you were asleep and you would ask them later on to take it from you, they would tell you that they could not do this as the plane would land in 45 minutes and they would kindly ask you to hold on to the garbage and throw it in the terminal building  That was in the early 2000s. Splendid customer service!
