Emirates Skywards "new fare types"
Has anyone had any issues with Emirates and the new ticket types, apparently there are two types of ticket, Skywards Saver and Skywards Flex. The difference being that you only get 50% of miles with the Saver.
This is fair enough however you cannot tell what type of ticket you are buying unless you look at the miles breakdown of the flight where it says either flex or saver. There is nothing in the fare terms and conditions or on the emirates homepage itself. I think this is a deliberate ploy by emirates to give away less miles as most people wont bother to check how many miles they are getting before they book the flight! What does everyone think? |
It causes further problems if you are buying from on agent who is solely online based and cannot indicate before purchase if the tickets are saver or flex even though the agents prices are cheaper than emirates own website. I guess theres no way for emirates to price match is there?

Welcome to FT mim74!
This discussion has been going on for a long time, and you may want to look at some of the other threads where the new Skywards has been discussed indepth. To answer your questions, Saver fares are more restrictive, and once you become familiar with the ticket conditions on EK, it becomes easy to tell which is Saver and which is Flex. The miles breakdown is indeed useful for seeing whether fares are saver or flex. You can also choose to view flight options by miles earned, and this would give you a flex fare as the first option, albeit at a higher price than some of the other options. Even if you don't look at the breakdown, you can see the total miles and figure out whether it is saver or flex. |

I'm based in the uk so don't know any agents ex DXB but the one I use to India ex uk is ticketstoindia.co.uk. Other sites such as kayak are good as they will search several agents.
