I heard EK has been delayed A380 deliveries due to financial costly. So I am not aware about EK want to be increase more ordered A380-900 or 800 series. Let's the speculations on that one.

Does anybody know how many A380's Emirates have taken delivery of during 2009 so far ? The news on new additions seem to have stopped.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the plan was for 5-6 to be added to the fleet.

Two conflicting stories that represent the style of EK media relations: they want to delay the delivery of the A380 and in the same story they mentioned that they want to order more A380

EK aren't the ones who want to delay the deliveries. Airbus is delaying deliveries because of persistent problems at their end.

Are you absolutely sure about this? Is that correctly those date where A380 will expect to be deliverable to EK? Do you really think EK will be deployment A380 service DXB-CDG/FCO/ICN/JFK?

Basil B Nov 16, 2009 5:50 pm

Heard a similar story a few weeks ago, issue with suppliers to Airbus so Emirates will receive one less A380 this year as they will be pushed back a few weeks.

There have been some rumors that the 6th and 7th A380 have been delayed until February. I still believe they will be delivered in December 2009, the 8th A380 may be delayed to February 2010.

In my opinion 2 in December and 1 in February. Will check this week-end when I'm back in Hamburg.

Do you really think EK will ordered A380-800R?

henkybaby Nov 26, 2009 11:40 am

Given the current developments in Dubai I would not be surprised if cancellations will come sooner than new orders...

sfozrhfco Nov 26, 2009 12:06 pm

EK is profitable and expected to be much more profitable in the coming year. They can use more capacity and profitably deploy it so cancellations are highly unlikely. Even Dubai World has many very healthy parts of the company. As with the rest of the world the problem is in the real estate sector. EK itself is still a very good investment.

It's not conflicting, though - it is entirely possible to want to add to the numbers ordered (long-term planning), while at the same time delaying the delivery of those next in line (short-term planning).
