4X-AXF is from 1978. But the whole fleet of freighters is about the same age:
AXK and AXL are both from 1980 (and were bought by El Al in 1995)
AXM is from 1981 and was added to the fleet in...December 2004 when it was already 23 years old.

For years, El Al has been "on the verge" of getting a new fleet of freighters......but for the time being, there are only those antique, noisy and polluting Jumbos doing the job.

They are not cost efficient, to say the least, and they are really not positive in term of corporate image...

Thanks for the update.
I'm really wondering why they fly such old a/c...

BTW, the oldest 762s are soon going to turn 25 :D

Because they are probably fully paid off and the shippers and their cargo do not need new a/c. They want their cargo to get to its destination at the promised date/time and in one piece; amenities do not matter.
