on A/C (from what i know/seen):
- if flight is overbooked and the "flight manager" see the "need", you will be upgraded from Y to C or C to F for free
- Money Upgrades from Y to C or C to F based on availblity, i know its 500$
from TLV/NYC, On last flight they asked only 250$
- Money Upgrade on A/C can be paid with points (1pt = 1$) rather money.

I have also seen flights where since few business passangers where on a/c,
they were move to F (no one on F/or no F), And all TPL/PL/GL/"Friend Of..."
where placed in Business (with Y class meals...)
Seen this 3 times already...

Thanks,
Eran.

How do they know how much points do you have?????
I don't think they have this info in the a/c

and how do they know whom to upgrade if they need to?
They check your status ? your class ticket?
I think that F/A friends and family are first to upgrade
then Celebs:) and then TPL and PL

A bit OT, but does anyone know of anyother airline that allows paid, onboard upgrades?

They don't do celebs as you might think they do
I have seen few begging to go first since it had free
Seats and they didn't gave them.
As knowing if u have points or not, there is a way to know
In general how active, there are few sub status like
Regular gl, agl, aagl and so on
They also sign u on a form with ur details

How can one find out their sub-status?

Look on your boarding ticket, near you FF number you might have additional
letters to your status, Like rather than GL123456 you might be AAGL123456
which means you are better than regualr GL123456 (so in upgrade you
will be in better priority and etc...)

I always get FQTV-PL on my boarding pass.
What does it mean? I hope it's good :-)

I know for a fact about 2 Celebs that moved to F.

I know for a fact about many family members or friends of the crew that C moved to and even F by the F/A

IKnow for a fact about many cases that family members of friends of ground stuff ,moved to C

And I always pay C or F , I have no family in ELAL

I also get FQTV but GL.

So how does FQTV rank vs others?

For your substatus - You can simply call LY and ask them.
In my boarding pass I always get AAGL printed.

"AAPL" and "AAGL" just means that you are eligible for the last minute (100 point Y to C) upgrade. And you only get that on your boarding pass if your ticket is in M/S/Y and you are a PL or GL with enough points. Don't get too excited.

I guess I was misinformed, as I heard several times the terms GL, AGL and AAGL as several sub statuses of GL - I guess it is sub statuses per a given flight as you explain.

On TPL no AA apears on M/S/Y tickets, AAPL and AAGL appeard also on my business boarding passes when taking W not to mention when i took J class as well.

And if i am not mistaken i have seen GLs without AA on a S class ticket.

I am still trying to find the logic behind this...
