Vidibox worth it?

I'm flying yyz-tlv on 767 in coach. Is the Vidibox worth it? It seems that the overhead movie screens seem few and far? Does the Vidibox work well? Good selections? Thanks!

It is well worth the price over the overhead screens of the 767.

It works very well and has had great selections when I've rec'd it for free in J. With my Shure earphones the sounds was great. I wouldn't pay for it myself though as I sleep pretty well on flights.

They charge for it in coach. It is handled by an external company.

Coach?
Oh, you mean Economy... ;)

Still, a bit cheap considering you are talking about TATL flights where most carrier offer at least a half decent IFE system.

Many airlines fly TATL with 767s and 757s and no personal IFE - Delta (including TLV-JFK), AA, NW and more. Some airlines offer personal IFE and AVOD but charge for their use (or "headphone rental fee"). I believe it is fair by LY to offer the regular service of the 767s and an extra entertainment box for some small charge.

I have flown many times with LY and I was never offered this Vidibox

When I get on a flight in J in a 767 the first thing I do is ask to get a Vidibox when we get in the air. Sometimes the are all taken so you'll need to wait until one frees up. I think they can be prebooked for Y but if not then just ask the FAs when you board.

I guess we all have a choice of who to fly with...

On my last D class flight, i got an SMS Vidibox service availble on my flight and will wait for me on my flight, I never asked for it (I find flights as the best time i can sleep and no one disturb me... 8-))

Thanks,
Eran.

I am trying to book a Vidibox from JNB-TLV-JNB in July but it says that it doesn't offer it on those flights. How could that be? It is a Boeing 767-300.

I don't think you can order it that much in advance.

I'm not sure I see the problem here clubman. :p
It's offered free of charge in J and for a cost (reasonable) in Y. Whilst it would be great if there was a proper IFE on the 767, it simply isn't the case and under the circumstances I think this is quite a good solution.
