LHR: is LY moving terminals, and if so when?
 

Rumors are all over the place...
I was under the impression they will move out of T1 (and into T4 most likely) once Star alliance move in there.
So, since every once in a while we get someone here that claims to know a lot from the “inside” do any of you know what the schedule for the move (if at all) is?

I would say somewhere next month... 27/3 is T5 opening
 

And i do believe that if ELAL will move it will be to T5 than T4...
Well i hope so... T4 is a nightmare.

No, I very much doubt they will be moving next month already.
And they will not be moving to T5, which is going to be a BA only terminal I'm afraid.
T4 is most likely where they will be moving to.

didnt they just upgrade or were suppose to upgrade the KD lounge?

Terminal 1 is not going anywhere anytime soon. Why would LY want to move (especially after they have renovated the KD lounge)?

Because T1 is becoming a Star Alliance terminal.

When was the KD lounge renovated? last time we discussed this a while back, we were all moaning about the state of it, and that they will probably not do anything about it since they will probably be moving...

So has it indeed been renovated? When? And why have LY not mentioned anything about it anywhere?


Edited to add: just saw on the website it says So if they are planning (or have already?) to upgrade the very same lounge, they are obviously going no where, which I am surprised about actually.
One thing is for sure, the refurbishment of the lounge is well over due!

El Al Israel Airlines has not made any announcement so far in regards to a change at London's Heathrow Airport. The only locations where we are changing terminals are in Beijing and Miami, which we have sent out press release. Please contact your local travel agent for details.

Hello, LY Insider! I thought you had left the forum. Good to see you are still here. I hope you have noted what people here think of the new 'First Class' - both the seats and the 'Histadrut canteen' style tray meal service.

Who said T1 was becoming a Star terminal? It will have more Star carriers than before, but it is not exclusive to Star, nor will Star be exclusive to T1.

LY has already moved terminals in Beijing.
At the moment only 3 airlines are flying out of the new (absolutely huge)
T3 and they are LY, BA, and one other (not sure who...).

LY Insider, now that it looks like LY are going nowhere, can you update us please with the situation of the KD lounge refurbishment at LHR?

Originally, the BAA had requested that El Al move to terminal 4 at London's Heathrow Airport, but we were very adament about staying at terminal 1.

I am in the middle of looking into this. I hope to have a response in the next few hours.

Isn't T1 or at least T2 going to be riped down and the two terminals will be combined and currently refered to as "East Operations" The new Terminal 1 is supposed to become the Star alliance Terminal at Heathrow. As happening at various other iarports Heathrow is planning to divide Terminals up by dedicating 3 Terminals to each major Alliance + T5 the BA termial and one terminal will be carrying charters etc.

Heathrow East isn't scheduled to happen for a while. It should be finished by the Olympics (2012) but they said recently somewhere that it might not even be ready by that date.

LY Insider...can you provide any further updates?
