Elal pilot salary

Interesting Hebrew article:
https://www.ynet.co.il/economy/article/ryEh0Orbw

Average salary for an Elal pilot (there are 630) is $27.8K/month which does not include reimbursement for expenses such as hotels and per-diem for being abroad.
How does this compare with other airline pilots?

El Al pilots earn an average of NIS 95,000 per month, according to data presented before a labor court, KAN news reported on Monday. Some 76 pilots, making up 12% of all pilots in El Al, earned between NIS 110,000 and NIS 160,000 per month.
It should be noted that according to the linked JP article, 50% of the pilots are back on the payroll with full salaries – even though many are not flying due to the pandemic – while about 90% of the rest of El Al's employees are on unpaid leave.

Emirates flies only the B777 or A380. I don't see their Captains earning only $97K, $112K, or $139K. It seems an excessively low figure.

Ok but remember that averages/means take into account the extremes on both ends (which is why the median is always a better measure of central tendency) and many regional pilots make pennies compared to their long-haul counterparts

El Al pilots ongoing labor dispute

https://passportnews.co.il/%D7%98%D7...-%D7%94%D7%92/

Pilots union is suing the Histadrut labor union and El Al over the agreement the Histadrut signed on behalf of the pilots during the corona crisis. From what I recall the pilots union had boycotted the talks so i dont see that they could have much of a case here.

My spouse used to be an EK captain, and a fairly junior one (two years as Captain. Her salary was well above $139k, before benefits.

It's actually not very high.

The standard captain rate is around $300-350k.

Considering the $100k training cost (El Al doesn't need more pilots than the IAF can provide) in addition to a four-year university degree, anything less than $200k annually after becoming established with the company is quite low.
