So I gotta ask:

Our upcoming trip on ElAl, booked through a travel agent, is not happening. Is that $$ in limbo? Would it just go to a new booking on a future ElAl flight? Or is this truly all up I the air right now? I cant even understand if this airline exists right now...

Is it a real TA or OTA?

Wow! Guess they have wait for a while. Hopefully if they have an agreements. I'm sure the pilots will understand.

Let see what happens. They should orders a new larger aircraft. 777-300ER, 787-10, or 777-9X. They needs the capacity. They needs more passengers. More than 400 passengers.

Do you really think they have money to buy new a/c, especially large and expansive ones like the 779X?

How is that going to help? Right now, you could -- generally speaking -- say that all airlines have parked all airplanes made prior to 2017. There are some exceptions, but if you look at Flightradar, you'll mostly find a handful of new airplanes that are actually flying. In that situation, there's absolutely no market for used airplanes that are older than five years. I don't think you would even find a buyer for a brand new used airplane.

Yes, I do. They needed more passengers. They wants more capacity. More than 400 passengers. I knows JFK-TLV flight was always full everyday. Lots of Jewish population who going to Israel. They actually flew on the 747-400 for a very long time. So now, they downgrade from 747 to 787-9 or 77E aircraft. They reduced the capacity.

Does anyone know how much the present owners paid for their share of ElAl? I ask since it was reported that The Rosenbergs offered $75M and put $15M in escrow for 44.99% of the carrier. So I was wondering if it was an amount that the present owners would jump to grab

I agree with you that the downgrade to 789/77E was a mistake but with the current crisis I highly doubt that they will buy bigger planes.
