I wonder what makes those 2 pax insisting sitting in J while holding a Y ticket.
Once on a TK flight on a 737, I received by mistake a seat in J while holding a Y ticket. It was a curtain resizable J cabin so I figure they enlarged the J cabin while not reassigning a new seat for me.

"An El Al Airlines flight to Frankfurt was delayed by 90 minutes today when two Israeli passengers holding tourist class tickets sat in business class seats. They refused to give up the seats, and the incident became violent."

I hope Elal takes them to court and sues them for 100KNIS. Chutzpah!

Good for ElAl. They decided to sit where they wanted and figured they could get away with it! I agree with knussbacher.

Good for El Al. I’ve seen passengers move up to empty seats. They usually go back to their own seat when challenged.

This is really not unique to Israel OR to the Middle East (had it recently on AZ from Y to PE, FCO-JFK)

I had the "opposite" experience once on Transaero on a flight SVX-SVO. I had been given a boarding card with a certain seat (can't remember exactly, maybe 4C), and when I entered the plane, I was surprised to discover that it was a business class seat. But when I prepared to sit down, a male flight attendant came running and screaming at me to not sit there. He had to find a new seat for me in economy, and unfortunately, there was one available seat.
