AS & LY new partnership

See here: https://thepointsguy.com/news/alaska...nership-el-al/
I, for one, would have preferred if AA & LY had resumed their partnership...

Reported today on the front page of Flyertalk: https://www.flyertalk.com/articles/a...ith-el-al.html

If you can earn decent points and redeem without fuel surcharges, I'll probably join the Alaska program and drop the useless Matmid.

Am I missing something? How is this particularly helpful? The route networks don't have a lot of points of connection. Is this really just all about SFO?

For those of us in SEA and PDX this is a huge incentive to fly El Al. I can now accrue points and fly one stop via LAX or SFO to visit family. I for one am delighted.

Alaska Mileage Plan is a great program.

Or you can connect LY flight from BOS, EWR, JFK, and LAS, as well.

Still, I wouldn't expect redemption to be possible for another 2 years. Still waiting on SQ...

Anyone heard any more details about this? I'll be flying SFO-IAD on Alaska in month and wondering if I should join their program or if I can credit to Matmid?

It is official, and published on their website. Make sure to check your fare class to see if it's worth crediting to AS.
