LY or RJ TLV-BKK?

In Y, fare is identical on both carriers. Times are also almost identical (RJ only 30 minutes longer each way). Flying over Iran etc. is not an issue. No status with either airline and miles don't matter. Basically, it boils down to:
- LY is non-stop, no hassle, less prone to delays; but an almost obsolete 747
- RJ is newish 787, presumably better seats but certainly better atmosphere (noise, air quality) with a brief break in the long trip.

What would you choose? Is the hard product much nicer on RJ? Thanks for your thoughts,

Shuly

No brainer. Choose LY.
Enjoy the 744, it will exit the fleet very soon.
Also, it is a nonstop flight: less risk of delay/luggage issues

RJ J hard product is much better. Not sure about Y.

Personally, I would say that 10-abreast in a 747 is better seating than 9-abreast in a 787. The argument about the brief break would be valid if the break had actually been somewhere in the middle of the journey. AMM is so close to TLV that in my opinion,it doesn't really count as a break, just an added hassle.

RJ doesn’t fly over Iran or Iraq to BKK.
I prefer to fly the newer a/c (2-4 years vs almost 20).

Seats are far worse on a cramped 787, plus a connection. Take the nonstop
