Passenger wins compensation for 5 Hour delay by El Al

Interestingly the passenger won the compensation for several reasons:
1. El Al never notified him about the delay in advance so he showed up to the Bangkok airport on time 3 hours before the scheduled departure time
2. They ran out of hot meals on the flight so he didnt get food
3. The liability was split half between El Al and half the app called "Hulyo" which he used to order the flight because Hulyo never passed on his contact info to El Al.
4. Even though the law provides for compensation for an 8 hour delay, the judge awarded compensation here because of the above factors.

(On a side note, I noticed in an upcoming reservation I booked through expedia that my contact info was not passed on to El Al. I'm guessing this is a common problem with externally booked tickets on El Al.)

I haven't read the article yet, but it seems odd that EL AL should be held accountable if Hulyo didn't pass information. Would EL AL have a case to seek costs from Hulyo for not passing the contact details and/or the delay information?
