LY announces TLV-LAS

Is that a joke?
how will this be viable ?

Maybe sheldon asked for it... presumably they'd be filling it with package deals, doesn't seem great.

Yoshi212 Dec 10, 2018 9:49 am

It'll be a codeshare on Adelson's Sand's Casino 747SP ;)

/Sarcasm.

It's going to be a rough route to make work.

Bachelor parties and convention travel? My guess is they cancel it after they collect their 250K prize money from the tourism ministry.

Actually works out well. Parachute in for 24 hours of gambling (or god knows what else) and then sleep it off on the flight home. lol.

I guess that the crew will not stay for the whole week. They will dead-head to LAX/SFO

One night in Vegas is not worth a 14 hr trip. Two weeks there would mean bankruptcy. One week, however, could be very workable.

So this may be where El Al's labor agreements really hurt. Since the rules require a minimum 48 hour crew rest period after a long flight like this (at least for the pilots), I have a feeling that the return pilots will deadhead to LAS in business class on the way from Israel. So minus two or three business class seats for every flight?

No, they will departed flight at 7am from TLV and will arrived in LAS at 11:15am by Friday morning. Return flight on Saturday night at 11:45pm from LAS and will arrived back to TLV at 10:15pm for next day. The entire flight crew will required to remain in ground for 36 hours.

They don't have to. They can do the return on Saturday night, unless the 48 hour requirement includes cabin crew which I don't think it does.

And when the inbound flight to LAS is delayed by 3 hours what's going to happen Saturday night when the crew did not get their 36 hour rest period? This sounds like labor trouble waiting to happen for El Al.

Anyone have the exact rest requirements between flights for El Al cabin crew and Pilots?

this is possibly right

as a former flight attendant ( 18 years ago) this makes most sense
we used to operate to ORD or YYZ and return from NYC (and vice versa) all the time

Anyone thinking of going on the inaugural service?
