Booking online limited to one class for all legs of the journey
 
For approximately the last 6 months the ElAl website has changed it's reservation format resulting in the inability to chose to fly in different classes for different legs of the journey. If I want to fly in economy for the outbound leg and return in Business it can't be done. I've complained about this about a dozen times and all I get is - yes, we've reported it to the tech guys, and don't worry, you can book with us on the phone and we'll wave the phone booking fee.
Does anyone know if they plan on bringing the option back?

Note there are the options for Business. Or, if you chose Business at the outset then there are no options for Economy!

It's pathetic I know.

If you can't be bothered booking over the phone, and don't necessary have to book directly, you can do mixed class bookings on Kayak.

Thank you for this, I thought it was just my browser. Telephoning was surprisingly painless and being able to fly out in business from LHR and come back in Premium is a worthwhile saving when one has a 3 hour drive from LHR after landing ( no booze).
The admin team on the phone did manage to get my wives salutation wrong but they corrected it and reissued a new ticket ( I know it should make no difference as salutations are not on a passport ).

It's beyond a joke that a year has past, and it still hasn't been fixed.

I can only assume there is another reason behind this other than pure IT easily fixable issue, although I cannot imagine what that might be.

Yes. Pathetic.
... and such a waste of my time. first go online to choose the flights I want based on availability and price and then to have to call (wait for an available agent, explain what I want and then go through the whole explanation of terms and CC info etc.)
