Checked Baggage Allowances
 

Hello to All. Just joined this forum and hoping for some feedback based on experience.

I have just replaced a great set of Sharper Image luggage that I used for 20+ years. That set traveled all over the world and did a great job, bit it weighs a ton and zippers have broken, etc. I've bought the Delsey hard sided polycarbonate Aero series. Lots of room, etc. The bag measures more than the company says at over 62 total linear inches.

I have a big trip on El Al to Tel Aviv in Business class coming up. They allow 70 pounds ( I won't have that much) and 62 total linear inches.

What is recent experience with International carriers in Business Class being tough on the linear measurements? My thinking is that it'll come down to the person at the counter checking me in and what their mood is on that day at that moment.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Is this the 29" model? What are you seeing as the overall dimensions?

You've essentially answered your own question - it varies by the agent checking you in. But you are also exactly correct that flying business class increases the odds that there will not be a fuss - especially if you are not also near the weight linit. A friendly attitude and a bit of luck and I like your odds.

I think you'll be fine. I find that when flying to tel aviv, its much more about weight of your checked luggage, and the size/weight of your carry on. I have seen some massive bags-and they never blinked. I travel with hockey bags at times for some extra stuff, they never have taken a measuring tape out.

I dont see them questioning or caring about the size of your of luggage in biz class

You should be fine. Business Class check in staff are generally very accommodating.
