What's weird? You burn the food in the ovens, you get smoke, and the plane gets diverted. It doesnt have anything to do with the age of the plane.

Anyone know why LY318 from LHR last night (wednesday 20/4/16) has been changed to depart from LTN as LY1314 departing this afternoon?

UP flight LY2653 today departing a little late is being operated by Israir aircraft due to some technical problem with either the aircraft or pilots. Couldn't hear clearly
An update: it was an excellent flight. More comfortable seats, legroom, and free pastrami sandwich cake and drinks for everyone. So much better than usual...

This is not really a mechanical problem - just an aircraft change -

I have an upcoming booking with Elal UP from Prague to TLV, booked with ElAl Matmid points, and now I can see that the flight has been changed to "Operated by Travel Service on behalf of UP Israel".

I have seen many times flights "travel service " aircraft departing TLV - wanted to know, if anyone has had experience with them - do they give food on the flight (like I had when Israir operated flight TLV - KBP on behalf of UP)? Is the seat/legroom more comfortable?

LY317 from TLV to LHR cancelled today - pilots didn't show as part of their continued industrial action. Obviously return flight cancelled too.

LY290 from VCE this morning made an emergency landing in ATH following smoke in the cabin, which turned out to have come from the coffee machine apparently.

LY 388 from Milano a few days ago, operated by Privilege, and then technical fault causing 26 hr delay on return. Reported bad handling, poor communications, and lack of coordination to compound things:

So pretty much the same as an El Al flight with IRROPS would have been.

Madrid flight today (Thursday 27/Oct) returned to TLV due to high cabin temperature.

Also 15 other flights today with extensive delays due to flight crew industrial action

This is getting absurd. I have a trip coming up to NY and LY is the cheapest, but there's no way I'm going to book with them if they are this unreliable.

El Al doesn't care.
The costs are negligible.
They could care less about reputation- flights are still full.
They are making a ton of money (even with "Open Skies")
El Al seems to be doing fine financially by doing the wet-leases and ignoring the pilots, as they will other support staff.
