July 2014 Mini-DO

THIS POST HAS BEEN EDITED:

WHAT ARE PEOPLE'S THOUGHTS FOR ANOTHER MINI-DO?

I said that since my sons are in Israel, things would have to be at a level where I would feel the need to pull my sons out, in order for me to consider not going. That said, Modiin has thus far been pretty quiet whereas Tel Aviv has seen more activity. Am I nuts or simply Israeli?

Modiin also has an Iron Dome battery (though so does Tel Aviv). Tel Aviv is more classically "Israeli." I don't think they get their shock value when they say "Modiin."

Enjoy! Maybe it's time for another mini-DO!

Happy to join. Too busy dealing with my son's Bar Mitzvah to organize.

Mazal tov! This calls for a real celebration :)

awayIgo Jul 14, 2014 7:58 pm

Mazel Tov. I'll be in Israel in 8 days--who knows, I can try again to maybe attend.

I work here. So we really could have a mini do. Anyone interested?

joshwex90 Jul 15, 2014 9:29 am

I'd be more interested in heading back to Jems or somewhere in Tel Aviv or Petach Tikva. Modiin might be harder to get to

elal767 Jul 15, 2014 11:09 am

Count me in.

joshwex90 Jul 15, 2014 12:15 pm

yosithezet, what dates are you here?

damaxer91 Jul 15, 2014 12:28 pm

I just left :(

awayIgo Jul 15, 2014 4:33 pm

Keep me posted! ( I will keep checking)

yosithezet Jul 16, 2014 1:18 pm

Sunday, Monday or Tuesday night should work next week.

I'm in for any of these - Modiin would be great, though Tel Aviv area also fine. Less sirens in Modiin!
Josh - there's a very good train service from Tel Aviv to Modiin....

That works if it's in the mall if I'm not mistaken. Are there good places there to get together?

joshwex90 Jul 17, 2014 1:34 am

<MOD QUESTION>Can you ask a question to vote on what day people prefer?</MOD QUESTION>

The train station is next door to the mall

There are frequent trains from Tel Aviv to Moddin. There currently is no train service from Jerusalem to anywhere but there is frequent bus service by the Kavim company from the CBS and/or Binyanya Ha'uma area

There are plently of Kosher cafes in the mall also

joshwex90 Jul 17, 2014 5:24 am

If we do Modiin, I can't organize. I'll gladly come though :)

awayIgo Jul 17, 2014 6:53 am

Modiin is assuming that EVERYONE comes from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. What about people who first have to travel to get to Tel Aviv?

Where are you coming from?

jonnye Jul 18, 2014 1:32 am

My preference is either TA or PT. I think Jem's worked really well last time.. "if it aint broke, why fix it?" type of thing.

Just to clarify... this is an ELAL do with the usual BA, CO & DL FQTVs and no LY... correct? ;)

The crew sounds about right!

Shabbat shalom everyone. I can do anything but Tuesday *if* I'm around. Still not sure whether I'm in miluim next week though.

Stay safe everyone!

NYTA Jul 18, 2014 2:03 pm

Given that last time the majority of us came from Ra'anana I thought we agreed to do the next one on our home turf. There is a Jems here.

FF Jul 19, 2014 6:06 pm

I'll be near JRS from 27 July to 3 Aug, so will probably miss this one, but interested if its next week!

joshwex90 Jul 20, 2014 1:21 am

I cannot make it this week. Stay safe everyone!

Josh, may HaShem watch over you and everyone else, in Gaza and beyond.

Thank you! As you can see, I'm online so thankfully, not inside Gaza, but many friends are. Hopefully, all will end soon and well for everyone :)

clubman Jul 20, 2014 2:41 am

Be safe Josh.

awayIgo Jul 21, 2014 5:48 am

Be safe Josh!

For the person who asked. I am in Netanya--or will be starting Wed. night. ( arriving on 008, yup I actually fly El Al)

I didn't vote in poll because I have no preference! ( that too should be a choice, IMHO)

It looks like the thread lost steam. At any rate, I don't know any of you here personally, but I'd be happy to stop by. How about Ashkelon, where we can show a little support for the south?

Trains from Tel Aviv to Ashkelon take between 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the route. Buses also about 50 minutes from Tel Aviv, direct line 300 Egged. There is a direct line from Jerusalem which takes about 1:15-1:30.

Of course, coming from Ashkelon I'm biased :-)
