El Al One-Time Newark – New York JFK Ferry Flight on 10DEC13

El Al Israel Airlines on 10DEC13 once again to operate Newark – New York JFK – Tel Aviv routing, on board Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. This appears to be a ferry flight from Newark to New York JFK, as El Al does not have local traffic rights on Newark – New York JFK and Newark – Tel Aviv sector. Incoming aircraft/flight is unknown at present time.

LY002 EWR1525 – 1630JFK1800 – 1145TLV 772 10DEC13

In 2013, El Al operated similar pattern flight on 12FEB13, 19FEB13, 27FEB13

Is it possible for EL AL enthusiasts in the NYC area to get on board the NYC sector for fun?

We weren't discussing a route, we were talking about a repositioning flight between 2 major NYC airports before the a/c goes onward to TLV.

You might want to regard Houminer's post in the humourous manner it was intended...

It's kind of hard to do that in a forum where we do not see or hear the other persons voice, tone, and facial expression. Consequently, reading the written words and construing them in their literal sense, I find, is the safest approach.

However, now that I re-examine his post in light of what you said, it is rather funny for LY to start regular EWR-JFK service on an A380.

I can DRIVE between EWR and JFK in the same time they are going to fly?????--Maybe they are going to do some sightseeing on the way, "If you look out the left window you will see the Statue of Liberty and if you give me a minute or two I'll swing around so those of you on the right side will be able to see it out your window too."

That's the block time, it'll probably only be in the air for 10-20 minutes.

This flight is likely going to be longer than just a few minutes. Before being discontinued a few years ago, CO had a flight between HPN (Westchester County airport) and EWR on turbo props. The distance between the two airports is around 30 miles and yet the flight took 45 minutes because of ATC flight paths. Consequently, something similar will occur with this ferry flight as normal ATC rules and routes need to be followed.

They probably need to elongate the flight, since by the time they need to begin landing, they haven't righted up from the takeoff

The flight might well vary dramatically in timing, depending on the direction of the winds and which runways are in use. There used to be a UA 737 flight from SFO to SJC in the bay area, that could take anything from 10 minutes to 40 min in the air, depending on runways in use.
(the flight was just to reposition the aircraft - but passengers could book to get off at either airport).
