Duty free question

Hi I will be flying ELAL from EWR in 10 days . A relative of mine asked me to get them Irish cream Baileys from duty free . Does anyone know if elal duty free carries it on the plane because I wanted to use some points before they expire in a few weeks ? I checked on there website and does not show but was just wondering if just not shown on the web . Thanks in advance .

You used to be able to order things in advance to have ready on the plane for you. I remember a while back they had a really great deal on champagne and I had them stock a couple bottles on my flight for me to buy. Sorry I don't have more information for you, hopefully someone will have something more current.

You can still buy online, though Bailey's isn't listed online. You can try emailing [email protected] to see about preordering and paying with Matmid points.

Thank you all . I will email them .

Maybe get Sheridans as a substitute. Alternatively, what coffee liqueurs are available from Fly & Buy?

Unfortunately there are no coffee liqueurs available for sale on Fly&Buy at this time. Here's a list of all spirits available >> http://www.elal.co.il/ElAlDutyFree/P...spirits&page=1

I am curious as to why El Al in JFK and EWR doesn't allow passengers to purchase any duty-free times less than 1.5 hours before departure time?
AFAIK this is only the case in JFK and EWR (does not apply in TLV or LHR or BRU or ZRH).
The vendors at JFK and EWR keep telling me its El Al's rule.
Why?

Hi
The reason is that Duty Free items are brought to the gate by the Duty Free personal, there it is given to the passengers for security clearance with accordance to the voucher they received during the check-out process.
The 90 minutes is a predetermined time-frame that ought to be enough for the process to be completed and should not cause any unwanted delays to our flights.

Hope this answer helps to clarify things. If you have additional questions, let me know.

Didn't there used to be another process? At one point (probably 6-7 years ago) there was a great price for buying Dom Perignon on board. I was able to call ahead and get them to place a couple bottles on board for me. Then I was able to buy them from the on-board duty free cart. I didn't pay in advance, just "ordered" some more items to be available on-board.

Maybe those days are gone, but it was very convenient.

What voucher is this? I know that duty free personnel distribute purchases at the gate because international and domestic flights depart from the same terminals. But I've never seen a time limit with the other airlines for this. And I also have never received a voucher at check-in for duty free purchases in the terminal
