They might be switching planes but the product will still be vastly superior to LY's (in fact in some ways more so after the change).

Agreed but I would like to get my backup plan in place now, rather than take a chance, especially as I can see that despite all the nice chat on this thread and others, I-class tickets now seem pretty hard to come by, redemptions into J nigh on impossible, the great value T-class through fares to the US for a patriotic $1,776 are now Y to London and T onwards for the identical price but lower service, lower TPs, lower Avios and a terminal change. This is why I've been pushing for a "WT+ME" product on the A321, somewhat in the style of LY's Premium Econ or BA's Club Europe...

I've always wondered this because I hear of plenty of people getting offered to be bumped off elal flights but whenever I ask at the check in desks, the check in assistants look at me in a funny way! Is this the wrong way to go about this? Is there a technique?

Also, on my outward flight to tlv two weeks ago, i was travelling alone, and a friend of mine who was also traveling alone got automatically upgraded to business?

My question is, how do you get bumped off/upgraded? Is it pure luck or are there other factors involved?

Hello lev441,

Any passenger may ask El Al's representative at the check-in counter and volunteer to be offloaded the flight due to an overbooking situation ('bumped'). Our ground crew must register the passenger in their system. In the event there is an overbooking, the passenger will be transferred to another flight based on first come/first serve basis.

An upgrade to a higher class is made only when the passenger is registered for it or purchases an upgradable ticket. All questions must be forwarded to an El Al office (link below).

Will he/she have to wait 2 months for a reply again...? :td:

How come other airlines can take FT seriously, have proper reps (sometimes even more than one) that actually take the time to come on here on a daily bases to listen to their customers and try and help, yet you guys can't make an appearance once a month, never mind daily...

It's called זלזול

10 days ago, I sent LY a complaint e-mail regarding a recent flight. Still waiting on the reply. Think it will take 2 months?!? :(
