MR in LY
All our neighbor forums this time of year have discussions about MR's. Since in Matmid the status miles are calculated for 12 months we don’t have a "MR season".
Does anyone do MR's with Matmid? Have any of you done MR's in the past? Do you want to share your experience? |

Other than M&M what other FF programs are bases on a calendar year?
Only MR I ever did on LY was many years back, when I was missing some point for Gold so took a quick flight to LCA and all sorted. |

Did you stay overnight in LCA or did you manage to catch the return flight back?
I think I was on the ground for less than an hour. I remember the looks I got when the crew saw me back on board. I was in C and the FA asked me whether I wanted yet the same meal I had just about an hour earlier... |

I Did once, TLV -> CDG -> TLV with Over night (Flying Sunday Returning Monday), Then TLV -> MAD -> TLV returning the same day, And the day after, flying to Las-Vegas... If you want to call it MR, then call it MR... 8-)
(it didnt helped me much for any status), But it did gave me an excuse to recover at the Rhinos! 8-) |

Connecting from the USA to Europe through TLV
Since it's a bit stupid I think this counts as a MR:
LAS-LAX-TLV-ZRH-TXL (this gives 600 points) |

LAS-LAX-TLV-ZRH-TXL (this gives 600 points) I know someone (Israeli) lives in Thailand, that does BKK -> TLV -> JFK (and then vice versa) to get from BKK to JFK, I used to meet him either on the lounge or the plane. Once of the nicest FF guys i ever saw. |

only the last leg is LX.. wish me luck, it's starting in the morning..
Good luck and sleep well. |
I think some people might be missing the point of a miles run here...
A miles run is not a trip you do because you had to do it anyway for work or a planned holiday etc. It's purely for the sake of gaining or retaining status with an airline FF program. |

And the first leg (AA?).
Good luck and sleep well. It's been a very long day. Two tickets: LAS-LY(AA)-LAX-LY-TLV TLV-LY(LX)-ZRH-LX-TXL LAS-LAX: (AA on LY code, F) Asked check in agent to tag my luggage for LAX as I wanted LY's priority tags there. He said it's impossible. Contact the supervisor etc and made me promise that I will not hold AA responsible if I didn't make the connection and he agreed. Gives BP of LY flight as well. No lounge in LAS (only CO), so I sat in starbucks.. LAX-TLV: (LY, C) 30 minutes line in LY's C line. Many passengers passing through in F line. I counted 15, only 6 occupied F on the flight. In the lounge it was late enough to print LX boarding passes. Flight took off and landed exactly on scheduled times. 2 hours in TLV. TLV-LAX: (LX on LY code, C) Had to go out, pass biometric border control, customs. Have someone outside get my luggage, remain only with carry-on. This proved a bit complicated and left 40 minutes before flight to get in again. Had my boarding pass, LX checkin was closing got security agent to put a new security sticker on my passport - 15 minutes line (25 remaining). biometric border control doesn't work - It turns out you cannot get out and get in within 24 hours. Must go to border officers - 10 minutes line. Officer to check I passed border control - 5 minutes(!) All are personal records for me. Got to a/c as it was closing the doors. LAX-TXL: (LX, C) ZRH border control and security check - absolutly empty, 2 minutes and I'm in the lounge, 45 minutes wait that turned 1:45 Arriving at TXL it takes exactly 1:05 minutes (I looked at the watch) from disembark to taxi stand, 15 minutes to hotel. Total of 30 hours, 6 aircraft "meals", 3 lounges, 30+400+200 LY points, 1250 (I think..) LH points ELI |
