So it seems in the end that the much delayed Dallas-Tel Aviv route will not get launched by American. However, they seem to be having success with their Miami-TLV and JFK-TLV flights.
No major surprises here.
Yes, there are plenty of Christians in the bible belt, but they make up seasonal low-yielding traffic.
TLV needs a rich med-tech / hi-tech / fin-tech environment and a large Jewish community with ties to the country to make the flights work, hence why LAX, SFO, NYC, MIA, BOS, ORD YYZ, and YUL work for the various carriers that serve those markets from TLV.
As well as IAD for obvious political ties & as a secondary connecting hub.

I have magnets on my fridge from the 90s promoting that route. Man, that was a long time ago...

I think I flew it once.

I remember getting the ORD-TLV flight once in the late 90s on a sat night, but from Newark, where the flight was scheduled to pick up additional passengers because they couldnt fill the flt from ORD, and the plane was only a 767.

The scheduled departure was something like 0230 from EWR. I had never seen the airport so deserted. We ended up taking off 30 mins early because everyone was there already at 0130.

It was reported in the media in Israel that the TLV airport has blocked any schedule increases for this summer season due to overcrowding. With flights so full and fares high, I expect we'll see a bunch of new destinations and capacity increases especially to European destinations among the LCC's and possibly new routes as well for the winter and into 2023. We can already see that some airlines - ITA, Turkish, Etihad, have upgraded aircraft size on the route (I guess that's a way around).

I saw the same Facebook post / group, and I call Bull sh*t.

If they were truly cancelling the route, they would have done it already.

Themarker says those 3 routes did not work out for El Al financially and also blamed it on the dispute with the pilots.
At the same time the article says El Al will start up or expand other routes instead, so its hard to believe article 100%, because if its due to pilots dispute, new routes will have the same problem.

American increasing MIA-TLV to daily flights

American is increasing MIA-TLV flights to daily as of October 29, using 787-8 instead of 777-200, so slightly smaller plane but weekly capacity will increase a lot. Surprised that they are waiting till after the jewish holidays to make this change.

Checking flightaware it seems like LY4 on M-T-W has been going JFK-CDG-TLV and operates as two separate flight numbers. Couldn't find this posted anywhere.
