OT: EasyJet and transferring to another flight

The website for our orange friends says:

6 Flight transfers

Passengers can transfer reservations for an administration fee per passenger per one-way flight (see tables below), plus any difference in the total cost of the flight applicable at the time the change is made. If the available fare is lower on the new flight, no refund will be made.

An online booking made by a registered member can be transferred to another easyJet flight through the easyJet web site. The changes must be made at least two hours prior to the flight's scheduled departure time. The fees for transfers made online are:

Now, my (possibly silly) question is: does the flight I transfer to have to be the same route, or do I basically get an EZ credit towards another flight, presuming I book immediately?

ie. I am looking at booking tickets back from PMI. If we cannot go on the dates booked, I know that we can rebook to a PMI-LON flight later in the year on payment of the £17.50 fee. But could I rebook to, say, a LON-Nice flight if we decided not to reschedule our PMI trip?

Any clarity on this welcome.

Same route, different time AFAIK.

I had a reservation on a NCL-BUD flight last August when Easyjet cancelled the flights because of a shortage of pilots. On the website I was only able to rebook onto the same route on different dates which was no use to me. I was able to change to a LTN-BUD flight by phoning Easyjet but spent over an hour on hold on an 0871 number which they had told me to call to rebook if I couldn't do it on the website.

I don't know if the mechanism of making changes is different when the change is initiated by you rather than a response to Easyjet cancelling the flight. However, if you have to phone them to transfer a booking the phone number is an 0905 number which costs 65 p/min and the administration fee per one-way flight changed is £20. Depending on the length of the phone call and the price paid for the original tickets, it may be cheaper simply to book new flights!

I have, in the past, transferred my booking to a completely different route. Not sure if you can still do that, but it was definitely possible via the online system...
