I flew with them to BUD. Nothing exceptional: got me there on time (afair).

Various member of my family have used them extensively on the BUD route without incident. AFAIK their experience is pretty much in line with csdf

Since BA no longer fly to anywhere in Germany from LGW, I use Easyjet a lot (mostly to CGN). We used online check-in for the first time in May (late May Bank Hol), as my other half was in a meeting that afternoon and she may have been cutting it fine. As it turned out we were in plenty of time - short queue and changed to boarding group A at the desk. If the queues at check in had been horrendous (and at 4pm on a Friday afternoon, they often are), we'd just have slummed it in D. By the sounds of it, that's quite a common strategy.

And as alluded to above, if they use gates 3 or 11 (where there is no holding lounge), it really is first come (to the boarding gate), first served.

So, use online check-in - you really can't lose!

My colleague has a flat in Warsaw and spends 3 weekends a month out there and almost always flies with Wizz LTN-WAW. He's probably one of their most frequent fliers as he's done about 100 flights with them. He's quite a big fan - it appears to be an entirely competent low cost carrier.

Perhaps when EZY realise this they will change the absurd practice placing people in D. They will have invested in the technology for OLCI but gained none of the benefits. OTOH they will probably remove the ability to swap to a lower group at the airport if you have used OLCI.

The front row if you want leg room, and you'll be the first off if they use a jetty. You can also have a bit of a gossip with the number 1 and 4. The only only drawback about row 1 or overwings is that if there are going to be 6 pax a row it will be there. I personally like to have a spare seat next to me by the window so tend to aim for the back.

Do you know if EZY allow children to sit in row 1?

Which also makes me think. If airlines use an overbooking profile and some (I believe the Easyjet are one - allow you to check in weeks in advance not just 24 hours. What happens when Easyjet get to the point where all pax online checkin - do the last 4 customers find out 2 weeks in advance they don't have a seat on the aircraft?

1C or D...IMHO...as a fairly regular SleazyJet user! :(

Of course if you insist on turning left on boarding then get on the back steps and sit in 25C or D. :D

I think EZY also restrict seats C and D on the last row (possibly so they can choose them to push back the rugby scrum when trying to open the doors in an emergency)

AFAIK, most LCCs do not oversell. They have less of a need to, as they do not as a rule offer fully flex fares and experience fewer no-shows (and no-shows are charged anyway, since tickets are non-refundable and changes, when allowed, must be made prior to departure of flight)

Worthing Scottish Jul 5, 2006 11:50 am

NickB - I always thought the same as you, but I remember seeing something on here about OLCI leading to Easyjet changing to overbook.

Am off to SXF on EZY on Sept 1st with the oiks to see Cirque Du Soleil (back on the 4th)

I did check and SXF doesn't seem to be too far from the centre but does anyone know roughly what the taxi fare into town is or whether I would be better off with the train ?

Also, has EZY changed its OLCI yet from group D boarding ?

(BTW, EZY are only charging me £467 for 2 adults and 2 Children and BA want £2399)

Oh, and as a tip, Swisshotel has some great prices on a pre-pay basis for rooms which include breakfast and an upgrade if available (in Berlin)
