easyJet passenger numbers soaring

Budget airline easyJet's aircraft were fuller in April than in either the previous month or in April 2000. The airline carried 609,085 passengers last month, 22% more than in April 2000, with load factors up to 84.93% from 82.32%.

March load factors were 82.6%. Last week British Airways revealed its load factors had nosedived on the back of the economic slowdown in the US and fears over foot-and-mouth disease in Britain.

EasyJet also reported that almost 90% of bookings are now over the internet, against 64.3% a year ago.
