Anyone able to tell me delay reason EZY8845 19MAY
Just back from Turkey after a 20h+ delay.
Originally booked EZY8846 DLM LGW 22:15 19MAY. On route to airport learn flight cancelled. Rebooked onto EZY9846 16:00 following day (which also ended up delayed). DLM handling agent just gave reason for EZY8846 19MAY delay as ‘plane not coming’. Crew on rescue flight EZY9846 following day all called from standby. They knew it was recovery flight from previous day cancellation but said they did not know why flight cancelled at short notice. FR24 had a/c inbound from SKG with one hour delay but that was it. A/c then moved off our LGW DLM LGW to op LGW BJV LGW. Does anyone know delay reason please. |
I can't help with the reason for the cancellation nor the delayed flight but I suspect it is due to the ongoing staffing issues easyJet is currently experiencing. I would file a claim for EC261 compensation for both flights. You should be entitled to £350 for each of your disrupted flights, £350 for the cancellation of the EZY8846 flight and then (depending on the length of the delay) £350 for the delayed arrival of your rebooked EZY9846 service.
This only applies if the first flight was indeed cancelled and not just delayed overnight. If the reason for the cancellation or delay was weather related then compensation would not likely be payable. In addition to the above, and regardless of the reason for the cancellation or delay, you should claim any necessarily incurred out of pocket expenses for accommodation, food and drinks together with any additional travel costs for travelling to/from the airports. |
Thanks Tobias-UK for your reply.
First flight was according to the EZY app was actually ‘rescheduled to 20 May at 16:00’, this being EZY8846 19MAY DLM 2215 LGW 0030 with re protection flight operating as EZY9846 20MAY DLM 1600 LGW 1815. That second flight, EZY9846 scheduled as DLM 1600 LGW 1815 finally departed DLM 1839 arriving LGW 2045. Captain of that flight explained that aircraft left LGW late due to 1x disrupted pax being off loaded plus 2x medical issues, then slot restrictions ex DLM. Whilst this further delay getting home was further bitter icing on the cake I don’t expect/see a EU261/UK261 claim. I would rather like it on the first flight but wanted to try to find out the reason for the delay. |
