Booking an additional seat next to mine

Any experience of doing this?

Customer service said that I can just book a second seat under my name. I just wanted to check if anyone has ever done and if, indeed, that is the way to do it!

Have the Same Question -- anyone know how to book extra seat

I'm also looking to book 2 passengers with an empty middle seat. Happy to pay for this 3rd seat. Anyone know where I can find the rules? Ryanair publishes the name you need to use for the empty seat. I cannot find any rules published for EasyJet. I messaged EasyJet via Twitter but they are not responding to general questions. Thanks in advance.

Yes, its possible. I did it in August. You need to use the name of one of the passengers twice.

While I haven't flown it, I just did this as noted, booked myself 2 tickets. I got a Twitter response telling me to call in which I did. The agent said just that, book another in my name. He even told me to do it myself so as not incur a phone booking fee.

As a data point, I have seats 1D and 1F booked for self & wife and wanted to book 1E as an extra seat. I called and was told to book it myself online (to save the phone fee) but to type the name as "OBJ FIRSTNAME" "OBJ SURNAME" -- I found this odd, but then I googled and indeed there is a reply a few lines down in this Twitter post from easyJet saying the same thing:
.

Presumably OBJ stands for "object" and the notation is meant to indicate you have a cello or something.

Just to confirm that this is still the procedure: I was given the same advice on Twitter via DM yesterday.

Thanks for this useful thread abd to ft101 for providing the link to this.

Any other recent experience with this? Still ok to book the third seat with either my own name or with the OJB MY NAME approach?

Not that recent, but I flew in June with an extra seat booked using the OBJ MY NAME method. Worked well. But I was told at check-in to warn the gate agent not to board the additional "person" as that would banjax the tally of pax.
