Easyjet between CPH and TXL
Thinking of visiting Berlin and Copenhagen.
Only direct flights between these two cities are on Easyjet. Google Flights identifies them as U2 planes? What are they? I see the Flexi fares get you checked luggage, a carryon and a personal item. They seem to be about 3X the base fares. I can pay the Flexi fares but I don't know the aircraft so I wonder about overhead bin space. The direct flights are like 75 minutes. *A and other carriers only have one-stop routes between these cities so the travel time is about 4 hours. Price and time are tempting but I would be used to *A baggage allowance, especially what I would take on TATL flights. So is Easyjet viable for such a flier or better to stick with bigger carriers instead of LCCs? |

What do they do make you pay more if you’re over the limits? |

They make you pay the fee for a hold bag and you have to check it in.
Easyjet are fine, just read the rules before you fly. Also be aware that the *A carriers are far stricter in Europe than they are in the US with carry on bags. There is usually an 8kg limit and it is enforced. |

unfortunately I carry a lot of electronics on board, with rechargeable batteries. Lithium batteries.
It takes about eight hours by train, and trains are suspended and replaced by buses between Copenhagen and Rødby, but it's an option if you have too much luggage to bring on a flight. |
Well I got some flack on a flight earlier this week, a LH flight from NAP to MUC.
But otherwise, I had no hassles boarding planes with a carryon full of lithium. Probably over the 8 KG limit by at least 5 KG. But size wise, it's not taking up a lot of space on the overhead bins of A320s. |

I was on this Easyjet flight earlier this month. Super cheap fare.
A320 and A319 with normal overhead bins. It didn't seem that carry-on size policy was strictly enforced. Just choose a fare that will allow 1 bag in the hold or add 1 checked bag before payment. Easy. No need to pay the expensive flexi fare to get check-in luggage included. Anything else than a direct flight for this short distance would be crazy. Then rather take the train. |
The train seems to be like 6-7 hours when I did a quick search.
The 1-stop routes are like 3.5 hours on LH or other *A. Anyways, not sure I'll go this time after all, but good intelligence for the future. |
