easyjet seat allocation

Have just booked my first flight on easyjet since allocated seating came in - I paid £3 to choose my seat as I wanted to ensure an aisle seat (I was not worried about exit or forward seating and this seemed a small price to pay for the security of getting an aisle seat). If someone choses not to pay for a seat, how does the website allocate a seat, would it allocate the person to a centre seat, on the basis that no one (travelling alone) would ever pay for such a seat?

It seems to do it randomly! I booked a multiple stop itinerary wt them when they just introduced it....one flight i had a window, the other one an aisle and then the other one was a middle. it just kinda does it randomly...unless there are 2 ppl on the reservation and then it seats them together if i remember correctly.

Can you then change if you don't like the seat you have been given or is that part of the gamble, you have to take it?

you can change it anytime BEFORE you check in. If you've printed a BC, too late.

Is that last part still the case with easyJet?

No-one knows how microchips work - not even the designers. You get what comes up, and that's it. Of course you can move to an empty seat if no-one else is sitting there. Unless you're in Cattle Class and try to go to Snob Class.

Yes, even ten years later, where possible EasyJet will seat people on the same booking together. Unlike Ryanair, who will go out of their way to "randomly" seat you 20 rows apart.
