Easyjet connecting flight

Hi

I'm flying Prague to Lisbon, with a connecting flight at Milan Malpensa Airport. Originally, my flight from Prague landed at Malpensa at 14:10, with the Milan to Lisbon flight departing at 16:00 so I thought that the 1h:50m window should be OK.

But now Easyjet have changed the departure time (to Lisbon) now to 15:45 so the window is now 1h:35m. Any opinions if this is cutting it too fine to disembark, get my baggage and then check-in to the flight to Lisbon?

Thanks

If things are on time, it will be tight, but you should be ok. Any way that you can avoid checking bags? In that case you won't have to leave the secured area.

Should be fine but Easyjet will tell you not to do this.

Easyjet DO NOT DO CONNECTING FLIGHTS. Each flight is a separate flight and it's your responsibility AND YOURS ALONE to ensure you make the next flight.

If you miss the flight then go to the Easyjet desk and they MAY put you on the next flight for a fee - but that is subject to there being another flight that day and there is space on the flight.

Easyjet check-in / bag drop closes 40 minutes before scheduled departure time and you must be at the gate 30 minutes before departure.

If you can stick to hand luggage - fortunately Easyjet have some of the best hand luggage allowances in the business

easyJet is the only carrier to operate out of MXP T2, so in effect has the terminal to itself.

If you take hand luggage only and your first flight does not dismbark too much behind schedule you should be fine.

Theoretically. They aren't Ryanair, and they don't do this strictly just to catch people out. Often gates haven't *opened* 30 minutes before departure.

(This is not a recommendation to cut things fine, as sometimes they do!)

The "rescue fee" (about £/EUR50) only applies to the return half of a return booking by the way. Miss an outward, and you might end up having to pay again. I don't know if that works if you've got two outwards then two returns i.e. "nested" flights. I have in the past heard of them transferring people for free if they only *just* missed the flight (i.e. missed check-in but arrived before the actual departure time) but the rescue fee idea may have superceded this.

Ryanair actually closes the gates 30 mins before departure in my experience. Easyjet is more likely to use jetways, and then they usually open the gates 15 mins before departure, or if the plane is late which seems to be the norm rather than exception they'll board as soon as pax have disembarked.

Note however that they do not usually[1] extend check-in deadlines.

[1] They did for me once - I was transferred onto a flight that was delayed and should have departed before I was actually transferred onto it. But don't rely on it.

Thanks for all your replies. I've already paid for one checked-in bag but you have convinced me to take carry-on baggage only to save some time!

One last thing, I am a non EU citizen; do Easyjet also require all non-EU citizens to have their travel documents checked and Boarding Pass stamped at their secuity desk before going through airport security?

Thanks

I don't *think* so. Maybe best phone and check (then post here so everybody knows)?

Not for the intra-Schengen flights. Only Ryanair has this idiotic policy.
Once you have your BP (whether from the counter or from the net), you'll have to show a Passport (not a driver's license, not a residence card, but either a national identity card or a passport) at the boarding gate and that's it.

Only a passport if you are not an EU citizen, AIUI. Only EU ID cards can be used for travel within the EU, not non-EU ID cards.

Or is intra-Schengen treated as fully domestic by EZY? (You can, or at least could, fly easyJet domestic in the UK with a UK photo driving licence - I have done many times).

For travel within the UK most airlines (and I only know of one exception!) will accept almost anything that's official and has a photo on it. I have travelled on internal flights using an airside pass issued by a General Aviation airfield. (This wasn't on Easyjet - but I've had two airlines accept this without batting an eyelid)

Easyjet are fairly strict - passport, EU photocard driving licence (counterpart not required) or EU/EEA (including Swiss I believe) national ID card.

The blue and yellow lot are passport only[1], no other options. Actually, I'm surprised they *haven't* tried saying they'll accept driving licences then ask for the counterpart on the day, charging a fee of some sort if not presented. After all, strictly speaking, the licence is made up of the two parts and is not valid without both parts. I believe you'll still get a producer if you show a police officer only the photo part after being asked for it.

I really shouldn't give them ideas, should I?

[1] This has been the case since they started OLCI, but wasn't before. I think it's most likely because they bought OLCI software off the shelf which can't cope with the format and length of driving licence numbers compared with short passport numbers. As changing it would involve cost, they presumably declined to do so.
