Easyjet - Casablanca to Madrid?

Hi All -

Has anyone flown on Easyjet from Casablanca to Madrid? Do you know how reliable the flight is - or any Easyjet flight?

Would I be safe booking a flight (US Air) back to the States the day after an Easyjet flight, or should I leave an extra day in between? I'd prefer not to risk missing my flight home, but if Easyjet flights are fairly reliable (at least getting in on the scheduled day and not altogether cancelled), I suppose there wouldn't be much to worry about.

Also is it worth it to pay for the "Speedy Boarding"? I'll be checking a bag, probably close to the 20 kilo limit, and cramming everything else possible into a carry-on. (Because I absolutely intend to buy stuff while in Morocco!)

Thanks!!

Well, flights do get cancelled. There are no guarantees :). Don't know about this particular flight.

I don't find Speedy Boarding worth it. It really depends on how full the flight is and when you're there to board. The flight itself is not too long. I'm not sure how well Speedy Boarding is organized in CMN.

Haven't flown Casablanca - Madrid, but flew easyJet Marrakech - Madrid a few years ago, on time with no problems. In general I have never experienced a cancellation or significant delay with easyJet; I would go ahead and book it the day before your flight home.

I have experienced some long delays with easyJet (including an overnight), but never any cancellations. Their policy seems to be to rearrange things as far as possible to avoid a cancellation, but that can mean long delays, especially as they operate tight turnarounds.

Hope this reply isn't too late to be of use to you... I did EasyJet from MAD to RAK (Marrakesh) in January. My plane was delayed for about 3 hours, but I met a couple Danes on my flight who reported that they had been stuck in Madrid for 3 days - the two previous days they had cancelled because the plane needed for the Marrakesh flight was affected by persistent fog in Italy. They were clearly quite frustrated by the experience... Since you mentioned cramming stuff into a carry-on, you should note that the private baggage-handling contractors in Morocco are quite serious about earning commission from EasyJet baggage fees - you might (but by no means are guaranteed to) be able to slide by with a US-sized carry-on in Madrid, but you will definitely want to be careful to stay within the limit on the return flight.

Thanks much for the advice! ... My EasyJet ticket to Madrid is two days before my flight home - mostly because I decided I would like to spend more than a few hours in Madrid. This way, I should have an entire day, plus a bit.

Hopefully nothing will go wrong, though I do recognize there is always that possibility! :-)
