Name on your driving licence
 

Hi, i'll be coming to the states in a few weeks.
I've got a rental at Dollar booked, however i'm worried that my UK driving licence has a spelling mistake in my middle name i.e.
Steven Gramham Smith, when it should be Graham. Will this cause any problems?

P.S. My passport says Graham.

As it's your middle name and it's fairly obvious it's a typo and not a different name I think you should be fine. All they'll check to see is that the name on your license matches the name on your CC, unless your middle name is on your CC they won't give it a second look.

My credit card only has the initial of my middle name so it should be ok, as long as they don't ask for my passport...

I'd lay money that the agent doesn't even notice. Most rental agents are super confused by foreign licenses (especially the older fold-out paper styles), and they probably won't even notice the middle name. Even if they did, it's so obviously a typo that I highly, highly doubt they'd even mention it, much less challenge you on it.

They may ask for your passport, actually, but that still won't make a difference. Again, they probably won't even notice the discrepancy, and if they do, it's not anything big enough to flag you as an identity thief or anything. Rental agents barely pay attention to grosser discrepancies in names (some people named Daniel have credit cards issued as Dan or Danny, for example, or newly-married women may not have had their names changed on their credit card account yet, so their license and credit card don't match...and you'd be surprised at how few agents even notice that).
