Does anyone know if something similar (FL to other states) at 1USD/day right now? I would not mind driving one car from MIA to ATL in March.

Only Dollar does the $1/day one-way specials, when they do them. March is still Spring Break/peak season for FL, so almost certainly not. Sometimes Avis opens up their FL driveout in March, and they do allow drops in Atlanta, but they want more money.

All right, I guess I fly then instead, paying ca 300 one-way charge they currently offer is not that attractive.

and I can bet they crank up the pressure on buying insurance from them...I stopped renting from them since the tactics they use are obscene.

It looks like they've extended it until the end of June, and expanded it to the Piedmont and mid-Atlantic regions.

It's still on, but, even though the advertisement has not changed, the reservation system now only quotes the $1/day rate as far north as Norfolk VA. Northern VA airports (ex IAD, DCA) and up to the Northeast now quote the usual rate plus their usual drop charge.
