Preboard Question
 

I will be traveling with my parents and my grandmother on Skybus in December. My grandmother is not able to climb stairs very well to board the plane since Skybus doesn't use jetways. I know many of you have not flown on Skybus but what are your experiences with other airlines in preboarding? Would my parents and I be able to preboard with my grandmother?

I dont think there should be a problem preboarding, but this depends on the airline... I dont know the particular airline, so I cant really answer. But I assume you could, and should, preboard... Katja might know the rights and laws giving you the right to do so.

I think there's a good chance you all can prebooard.

When I travel with my family (which is rarely), we all preboard, but I always ask nicely, too.

Skybus does pre-board for those in need
 

I just took my first Skybus weekend jaunt and they did indeed announce pre-boarding, but only once. You have to be pretty quick b/c they'll quickly call group 1 almost immediately thereafter. Just stand fairly close to the door when it's almost boarding time and wait to hear the announcement then enjoy the pre-board. You may have to push your way through the crowd a bit, but you'll do pretty much anything for Grandma, yeah?

Also, Skybus will provide wheel chair service. At BUR and CMH, the "front" of the plane is loaded with a ramp that does not have stairs, so a wheelchair can go up to the door of the plane without a problem much like when using a real jetway. You can request a wheelchair by adding a note to your itinerary, or there should be a luggage attendant who can call one for you.
