Jetways at Burbank

Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if they have jetways at Burbank. My husband is in a wheelchair and it is always so much easier to board when there are jetways rather than a portable ramp or in one case being carried up the stairs because they couldn't figure out how to work the portable ramp. We are planning a trip from Eugene to Burbank and would prefer to avoid LAX if possible.

Thanks.

Lianne - Welcome to FlyerTalk!

I fly in and out of BUR at least once a month and I have yet to see a jetway. I also thought the BUR airport link http://www.burbankairport.com/ might address your concerns under 'Special Needs' but it doesn't.

My best advice is to contact your carrier. I have a feeling that they will tell you that they have a 'lift' that transports wheelchair passengers between the ramp and the aircraft. I am sorry to hear that nobody knew how to use the lift the during your last experience. That is unacceptable and unbelievable that nobody knew how to use the lift including the supervisors and station manager?

As for using LAX over BUR, I would consider the flight schedule. Using BUR may be more convenient that LAX especially during 'peak' travel times -- LAX can be quite a zoo!

Good luck and safe travels!

Thanks Stef.

Our bad experience was at Eugene and since then they have changed their setup so they have an elevator and a jetway to get on the plane. We usually fly with Alaska so I will check with them. Overall we have had good service with them. I do prefer Burbank but am weighing that against being able to take a direct flight to LAX.

Also consider where you're going once you land

Burbank is pleasant and quieter than LAX, but getting to the Westside from there is ugly all the time. My wife is working on a project near the zoo (5 and 134 intersection) and she has yet to find an easy/pleasant way to do it.

But if you plan to stay in the east Valley, Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, etc. it makes good sense.

I've been carried up and down the stairs to planes, and to me, I'd fly to LAX just because it has Jetways. Imagine getting dropped and you'll see why.
