Looking for a public toilet?
Traveling, even by plane, usually involves some transportation to the airport. Then there is travel by boat, and by car. Where is a bathroom when you need one?
Yesterday, I read that there is an app for that! It is "flush". 100,000 public toilets and data on ADA etc. It is an apple app, so you need an ipod or iphone. I have neither, so I could not check it out before posting here. It is free. Unfortunately, I would not be able to use it either?
Hope this helps someone...many?

Because I cannot access this app, I would appreciate anyone loading it to post here their experience. I hate posting something that I do not have firsthand experience with. Thank you.

I haven't download - no ipad
In the UK you can buy a RADAR key which gives access to disabled toilets which are often kept locked to reduce misuse and there are apps to help locate them.
Apparently there is also a similar eurokey in Europe
However they don't help you find the accessible toilets that don't require a Radar key and that is the problem with any app is how reliable and up to date is the data!
Have you tried searching Google maps for "accessible toilets" I was quite pleased with how many it found in my local area.

I just downloaded it. Not real descriptive. From users comments, it says theres no way to edit a listing. They said locations offered a handicapped toilet, but it wasnt noted on the app.
Heres a map of downtown Phoenix. Im sure there are many more restrooms here than are shown.

I downloaded the app, but didn’t really look to deeply at how it works. Does it differentiate between restrooms that have a handicapped stall and those that are, what we call, “family restrooms”? That’s where a separate restroom has more room, and is more private, and an assistant can be in there with me. I hope the app does identify where they have the family type restrooms.

A friend of mine has to catheterize about every 5 hours. He says it takes about 15 minutes to do so. This has kept him from flying to see his sister in Seattle from Burbank. He and his wife will drive instead. Too many delayed flights, tsa waits, planes on the tarmac on hold, etc .There is also the carrying of supply items and sanitation. Plus, he knows bathrooms are at a premium on planes. Any experience or suggestions. No status, money for club, but at least many AP restrooms are larger with multiple stalls. This led me to my original post. He too, does not have an Apple phone for the APP.
My thoughts for his drive included multiple stall restrooms at Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Target, truck stops, rest stops (many are close for repair for several years in CA...not priortized?), Membership stores like Costco (he belongs) are also good. Of more questionable size or cleanliness are parks. Now that covid is over??? most all fast foods offer indoor access. Most restaurants, grocery stores, large auto dealerships, gas stations with mini marts serve me for frequency more than complication. They will take turns driving, so there will be limited overnight stays. Motels give him a chance to try to time arrivals (check in issues?). and departures.
Maybe this will help others?

I use a pee bottle and my wife empties it in the grass. I almost never go into the restrooms on driving trips. My van can be private enough to do this. When not driving, the family restroom is the best choice, or just use a diaper until we get to hotel.
