Need advice re: senior mom w/ wheelchair and park/fly @ DTW

Hi, I need to fly with my senior mom age 90+ to a wedding in a couple of weeks. Will be flying Delta out of DTW, departure is 830am on a weekday.

This time around I need to drive her and I to the airport, carrying her bag, mine, and her wheelchair - which needs to be taken with us on the flights, which will be a 1-stop, both ways, (return at 11P on a weeknight).

The biggest perceived hassle is how/where to self park close to the Delta terminal, and move both our bags while pushing her in the wheelchair...

So what is the most expedient way to do this.. Drop her off to get her checked-in - go park quickly and join her…. or try and park and push her/pull bags from the nearest DTW lot (blue deck i think it is - or where…for Delta @ DTW?)

I am just not used to having to do all this myself - usually have at least a 3rd person to help - drop off/pickup - I'm even considering hiring a car at this point just to avoid the hassle - esp with the early-morning and late-night depart/arrival… and cannot risk cutting things too close time-wise getting out of there… When I fly solo for travel I just use an off-site parking lot with shuttle but i don't know if they can deal with a chair/handicapped person…

Any advice greatly appreciated, esp. if you know DTW

Some of those shuttles may be able to handle it. You would need to contact them in advance so you know for sure. I want to answer more of your questions but I am not sure. The way do it is that wife pushes my chair and I push one of those baggage carts. That or I drag the suitcase on its wheels with one hand. I don't know if those will work in your case.

You might check whether there is Uber Assist in DTW.

Thanks for input so far. I'll check with the shuttles. Otherwise more i think abt. it, am figuring I can just drop her off at Delta curbside in the chair with the luggage and then go park myself, and return to check in. I would hope I can go park in 15 min or less in the nearest airport park garage and run back to join her - am thinking that may be less hassle then offsite park and shuttle.

It's been so long since I flew from DTW that I had forgotten that. That is the answer for the OP
