:D Sadly, I will prob see this thread before I get a chance to watch tv. Bravo is 'good' about reairing their shows. I found out the results of TAR on FT as I was in the air when it aired and have not had a chance to watch that either!

The editing monkeys really made it look like Bryan would win with 2 dishes. Oh well...better he lost to his brother than Kevin. At least he already have a restaurant that's now getting lots of attention.

It's really too bad these three are in the same season...each can win TC easily separately.

Agreed that it was a fantastic season and all 3 finalists were worthy of the crown. However . . .

:td: :td: and :mad::mad: to the TC editors trying to make every episode a cliffhanger. It's a subjective competition, and there's no way for the viewers to tell whose performance is stronger other than by the judges' comments (unlike, say, a race, where it's generally easy to tell who is winning). When each episode ends with an elimination/victory that has viewers scratching their heads because it seems inconsistent with the rest of the episode, and you have to go dig around in Tom Colicchio's blog to find out basic, critical information about what went right and wrong with the cheftestants' dishes, something is seriously wrong with the editing approach.

I don't care nearly as much about being on the edge of my seat until the end of the episode as I do about having the episode make sense, and I don't want to have to do additional homework to make the episode make sense. Sheesh. :rolleyes:

Rant over. Hats off to a season's worth (well, mostly) of great competitors.

I could be wrong here, but I am not sure that Bryan 'beat' Kevin. Was there a second and third place determination? I think Kevin was just told that he was not Top Chef and then Michael that had won Top Chef. I am not sure that there ever was or is a second/third judgement. Maybe I am reading too far into how they produce the show. I am also guessing that Kevin does just fine as far as publicity and future earnings as a result of his TC participation.

Well, the way I see it working is:

They first announce who's going home. In early rounds this is from a selected subset, in later rounds they all get judged as a group.

They then announce a winner. Again, in early rounds from a subset, in later rounds from the whole group.

They never announce you're #2, 3, etc. So when there are more than three we only know the first and last place - with some relative order in the early rounds.

When they're down to three the same pattern follows. They announce the loser, they then announce the winner, so the only assumption I can make is the other remaining person is #2.

So, yes, I think Kevin was third place last night.

Also, Bryan's venison and dessert dishes beat Kevin's pork dish and dessert.

Not that it mattered, since there was no prize for runner-up. I still feel that Bryan got gypped - when he won the challenges there never seemed to be a decent prize! :td: Kevin got some $$ and prizes when he won, as well as a chance to compete on a team to compete for Bocuse d'Or. Michael got TC $$ on top of his previous $$ and Prius wins. Sure Bryan's VOLT is getting recognition, but it would've been nice if he had something concrete to take home...
