what's the deal with nutrition and grass-fed beef?

Does it really have the same fat content as salmon?

Apparently so

Who can you trust, though? Maybe those websites are run by the grass-fed-beef-association-of-America. :)

Apparently in addition to being healthier, it tastes good too...

Grass fed beef tastes noticeably different, to me in a very positive way. I tend to buy organic grass-fed for burgers and the like, seems to work out pretty well. The only problem I have is finding an 80/20, it seems like that's harder than say a 90/10 which just isn't enough fat IMO, to keep the burger juicy and allow for the addition of other ingredients to the meat.

I picked up some grass-fed steaks the other day, but didn’t really notice any difference. I used to have a home near a farm where bison were raised; now “that” was good stuff!

I certainly think it tastes better, and it isnt as tender. The latter may indicate lower fat. Magiciansampras, have you read "In Defense of Food" by Michael Pollen? If not you should. I think you would find it interesting.

Grass fed beef UGH. I know it's healthier, better for the beef, but UGH.

My dad was a "gentleman farmer" which means it was a tax deduction. The steers were grass fed until about three months before slaughter. Then they were corn fed. These steers were awful. Simply awful. Really chewy. Really, really chewy.

I just read Pollan's In Defense of Food. And was traveling in China and Japan for over a month. Food much much tastier (in China) than in US. I also managed to lose two pounds, amazing particularly in Japan where I indulged my beer and gyoza (dumpling) diet. As I thought about Pollan's book I realized that almost no traditional diet includes leaves. It is really seed based.

I also figured out why Japanese are so slim. They don't like the food either.

OK, I'm a bit drunk.
