no one's mentioned Fatburger? best onion rings on the planet!

ConciergeMike Aug 19, 2008 3:27 pm

Never tried the rings - wasn't impressed with the burgers or fries.

HTSC

In this category, I'd rank Chipotle and Qdoba in a tie for first, and Moe's a solid third.

Hmmmm-I know this belongs in the other thread but I like Fatburger better than in and out(Herasy I know)and wish there was one close to me.

The onion rings really do it for me.Shakes at both places leave a lot to be desired.

There is a sonic opening nearby-friends from the midwest seem to like that

Chipotle is good, but I think they rip you off on the guac. (and MCD's has divested from chipotle for over a year now)

+1 for Five Guys, it was awesome last time I did a MR thru IAD (and its the best feature of IAD)

Sonic is OK. The drive-in aspect is a nice throwback to years-gone-by. Their food is quintesentially fast-food. Best menu items are cheese coneys, tater tots and cherry limeade. Once they move in, you will see them EVERYWHERE.

My bad. I did not know they had dropped the burrito on Chipotle.

Hmmmmm-I do not know if McD's really got rid of chipoltle or if they spun them off into a seperate corporation-but still really McD's?A la pepsico and its food chains.

Then there are the delis: love Murphys Deli mufalettas, Jason's Deli, and McAllister's Deli. For my money, Carneghie Deli in NYC is the best - their hot pastrami on rye is to-die-for.

As for Carnegie Deli NYC: I'm partial to tongue myself and the beef tongue sandwich I had there (washed down with a Cel-Ray) was huge and sublime. But what the $$$? Very, very pricey.

On my last visit: Waiter drops the check, color drains from my face. Waiter asks, "So you should want anything else?" I say, "Yeah, a credit line to pay for this sandwich." Waiter shrugs and moves on

Since someone mentioned deli-style and another mentioned muffalettas, how bout Johnny's Po-Boy in MSY?

What was the price for the sandwich? It has been years since I was there-and it was expensive then.
Also-I was angry at the waitress for not informing us that everytime she refilled our iced teas she was charging us for a new one  Interesting screaming match on the sidewalk outside when I stiffed her on the tip

F-ed up on both counts anywhere you go.

anyone here been to a cane's or zaxby's?

both places premise (more so at cane's) is chicken fingers, but they're damn good

tanzaniancane Aug 22, 2008 12:11 am

I am very partial to Chipotle on this one - some amazing veggie burritos! Now I am craving one (and its clearly too late to go and get one!)

Agreed, and their prices are extremely reasonable. I can get out of there cheaper than I'd get out of McDonald's, and I feel much better about the food I ate.

Qdoba - Best burritos and tacos. I prefer their salsa selections to Chipotle. Again, a very yummy quick bite...

Agreed. Our Qdoba just expanded, and it still has lines running out the door into the parking lot at lunch!

I live in a medium-sized city in Illinois, and for years, people moving in have said that the one restaurant they want is a Sonic. I have a friend who lives in Detroit who told me that, right after their first Sonic opened, the wait was as long as 45 minutes!

We have a local restaurant that opened recently: Meatheads. It's basically just hamburgers, really good, greasy hamburgers. That would be among my favorites, along with Culvers, Potbelly's, Noodles & Co., and Panera.
