Tea is best enjoyed in a big mug, several times a day. Occasionally with chocolate hob-nobs.
I have hob nobs with my tea every day.......yum yum. |
My favourite was onboard the QE2 since you weren't limited to the amount of little sandwiches you could eat.:p
Best I've had in North America was at The Empress in Victoria. |

I had afternoon tea at the Montreal Ritz - it was HORRIBLE! So bad we actually crossed out the tip line and wrote "horrible service" instead - and I normally tip 20%.
For good afternoon tea, try the Dorchester hotel in London, England. Delicious! Fantastic service, amazing tea, just so lovely. Well worth the price tag IMO. |
I'm a big tea drinker and love the traditional tea with sandwiches, scones (clotted cream, yum!), etc. For me, the best thus far (and the priciest) was at the Shelbourne in Dublin. Stayed there last December and loved both the hotel and tea.

I really enjoyed having tea at the Grand Floridian hotel at Disney World on the monerail. It was alot of fun.

It's certainly not the best afternoon tea I've ever had but Virgin Atlantic serves up quite a nice one in its Clubhouse lounge at LHR. I don't know of any other lounge which serves afternoon tea like VS.

On the middle tray there are lovely cream cakes and a small scone. And finally a pot of the finest strawberry jam and a dollop of clotted cream. Yum! All washed down with the finest Earl Grey tea. |

I've never been to the Concorde Room, but I have spent many hours in the First Lounge at T4 and T1. They serve all necessary items for a proper afternoon tea including scones, finger sandwiches and cakes. I've only been to the new Galleries First Lounge at T5 once during the afternoon and I don't recall scones, tea sandwiches, or cakes being served. They do however have a nice hot buffet. |

Have not been to many, but the Peninsula in Hong Kong has a brilliant afternoon tea set. It's a must do for anyone who comes to Hong Kong.

My best afternoon tea experience has to be at the Peninsula Hong Kong. It was just perfect in every way. Everything was of top quality, and I especially loved the live music provided by the string band.

I am planning to visit 50 afternoon teas in the next 12 months, and so far I have been to The Ritz and The Lanesborough in London, and The Drake and The Peninsula in Chicago.
I don't know if I'll make all 50 or not, but time will tell. I've taken note of my weight at the beginning of this project, so it should be interesting to see what happens at the end. Too many three tier stands can do some serious damage to the waistline. I write about it at http://hightea.com |
