Find some Euro distributors who will ship to the US. Even post-9/11, it's easy to ship real thujone-laced absinthe through customs. I've got together with friends and ordered many times through a Scotland-based distro until they stopped carrying it.
Didn't personally feel any odd effects from the thujone/wormwood. You have to dilute the stuff and use the usual techniques with the sugar cube for it to be even somewhat tasty and enjoyable. Still good stuff though. |

It's absolutely a different kind of drunk, though, than your more run-of-the-mill alcohol. Let's just say it involved several policemen and a lot of pepper spray. I've been bringing absinthe back from europe for years and no one has ever even noticed. Bot even the interesting spoons. Hammacher Schlemmer has a very interesting absinthe fountain in their latest catalog. Now that I think of it, no one noticed the 83 bottles of wine I brought back from France either.
