It all depends on location:
UK: Fullers London Pride USA (in general): Sierra Nevada USA (SYR): Middle Ages Wailing Wench NZ: any Mac ale France: nothing - stick to wine |
I don't know its name but i like beer in Australian :)
|
like Stella, like Kronenberg 1664, love Guiness - a meal in a glass :p
Found a Canadian stout that I think may be a wee bit better than Guiness - McAuslen. Discovered it with an Irish boyfriend and although he thought it was blasphemy, he agreed. |
Kronenberg 1664^
Kronenberg 1664 Blanc ^^^ |
Based on recent trips to the UK last year and this, I've become fond of Timothy Taylor Landlord.

I really don't have words to describe how bad it is, not without being banned, but it's just the most disgusting rat's piss imaginable. For all those who think XXXX or Foster's is bad - it's like Dom Perignon compared to Hite. It's also pretty much the only beer you'll find available on a Korean Air flight after the first couple of hours. Don't be tempted, you'll be embarrassed when you hand the 90% full can back to the FA an hour later.
That said, I'll take a Weihenstephaner any day of the week. ^ |
What's your favorite beer?

Anyone in Sydney with a spare hour, get along to the Blu bar on the top floor of the Shangri-La, at the Rocks [directions] and enjoy the view with one of the above (or both!). ^ [Shangri-La Sydney - maps & reviews] |

Beers
A few favourites
No overall winner. Depends on the occasion and the mood Staropramen Pilsner Urquell Budvar Peroni Leffe 1664 (only where kept well and served properly chilled - seems to be varaible) Stella Artois Very surprised to have seen the likes of Carlsberg and Rolling Rock and Heineken havin been mentioned. Each to their own though. |
A perfectly built pint of Guinness if the weather is chilly.
A LongBoard or Abita if its hot out. |
Here's a sample of my favorite breweries and beer. Most of these are excellent breweries with all their beer very drinkable.
Westveleteren 12 Moonlight Brewery Death and Taxes Unibraue especially Le Fin du Monde Rodenbach Grand Cru - liquid crack to me Mort Subite Geuze Leffe Radiuze or Bruin Augustiner Weissbier Ommegang especially Three philosophers 3 fonteinen oude geuze Westmalle Double Ciney Grimbergen double an aged Floureffe val dieux brown Cantillon Geuze Maredsous ducasse de burgogne Rothaus - the only pils I really like Rochefort Weihenstephaner Ayinger El toro Allegash Chimay - Grand Cru Hair of the Dog Guinness if poured properly. Many places in Dublin including practically across the street from the brewery were pouring it incorrectly. Breweries that have excellent every day kind of beers that are readily available: Alaskan anderson valley BTW, it is either a Weissbier (white beer) or a Hefeweizen (yeast wheat). It isn't a "hefe" nor "weizen" nor "hefeweissbier." And lemon or oranges belong in them as much as an eggplant and artichoke belong in a coors light.....although anything to hide the taste of that rancid methanol might be an improvement. :p |
the 500ml Tiger in my hand right now...

I don't think anything can be worse than a warm Pabst Blue Ribbon or Beast Lite at any temperature (Milwaukee's Best Lite)... Those things make Keystone Light (the beer of choice at my alma mater) taste glorious. I don't think I have a favorite, though I enjoy a wide variety of beers. |
Yes, those Korean beers. While almost every Korean manager I know loves his (and sometimes her) Makkali or Soju, the vast majority opt for local brews when travelling or stationed abroad.
That said, OB from Gwangju at least brews an acceptable lager. |
