I've had some of the Mollydooker...the Boxer, I believe? Our local wine shop just got in a large selection of different Mollydooker choices, although they are generally at a higher price point than most of the wines we've been talking about!

I have recently been a fan of an South African wine- Sebeka.
Their cabernet pintoge blend is excellent for under $10.00!! |
The Concha y Toro Trio series...particular the Cab, Cab Franc, and Merlot blend. Bought it for about $13 in Mexico...amazing wine at that price point. I'd expect it to cost at least $50.

I find that most Beringer wines are pretty decent for the price (less than $15/ bottle, IIRC). I was especially a fan of the merlot.

For our valentines dinner, at our favourite restaurant since 2001, we visited a neighbouring bottle shop (also a fave since the mid 90s).
Result: NZ Marlborough Sauv Blanc under $9, McLaren Vale Sth Aust (best area!) Shiraz $8. Both cleanskin but from a reputab;e supplier, easily half or 1/3 the price of similar provenance wines. Very good. Very cheap! :D |
Was just at my local Costco and there is a "DO NOT REFILL" sign over the Liberty School Cab Sauv bin...buy up now! :)

Foreign wine
You could try a nice Spanish or Portuguese wine. My favorite is Gao Vasco and usually found for 6 to 7 dollars. My co-workers discovered this while working in the Azores.
