the H(.y.)TERS thread!

Surprised I haven't found a recent Hooters thread in the Dining forum.

Granted the food sux and the atmosphere is tachy... which is your favorite one?

I'm a fan of the local Hackensack Hooters in Northern NJ that just opened... great selection of college chicks working there.

Second favorite is in Fort Lauderdale on A1A... yea the one on 3rd floor overlooking the ocean from a balcony.

If I'm looking to be teased, I don't bother with Hooters. If I'm looking for a beer and a plate of snack food, I don't bother with Hooters. I've been in 2 over a 20 year period. Neither was impressive; not the girls and not the food.

Most attractive staff: Virginia Beach, VA

Best food: n/a

It's chicken wings, not an 8-course meal, y'all.

Their wings are decent. The eye candy is OK.

I seldom go overall, and I never go when on a business trip.

Been there once, food was mediocre. Girls were cute, but I wouldn't go back by choice. Recently I was in Vegas and stopped by the Hooters Hotel and Casino just to check it out...positively disgusting! Girls were not good looking at all, clientèle was interesting (imagine the type of people that get excited over $1.99 shrimp cocktail...yeah I'll leave it at that), casino was run-down.

There's a Hooters in Vegas? Darn, I missed out there. I would have pooped in to sate the same anti-fascination that drove me to walk into (and expunged, quickly out of) CircusCircus.

TrueBlueFlyer Aug 20, 2007 12:08 pm

I love going to the Hooter car shows... I don't make it a habbit to go otherwise...

I'm probably gonna drop by the Vegas location this October during SEMA:

PS. Too bad Hooters Air went out of business... lol

Trust me, you didn't miss much. We only went in because we had to verify some things for the project we were on.

The Hooters hotel and casino in LV is such a joke!
The gals are for the most part rejects from the other hotels, and(not to sound ageist)most are pretty well up there in years, and yet told by management to flirt and be hot, kinda sad actually.
The place was kinda dirty also.No reason to hang out there for me.

MisterNice Aug 21, 2007 7:26 am

I once stopped by one. After looking at the 100% fast food menu, after glancing at the pimply slightly overweight young waitresses and noting the hopelessly dirty tables and floor I realized the local McD was a nicer and far cheaper deal.

I was dragged into the Vegas Hooters and counted at least two waitresses with Bingo Flaps*
Not my idea of a raunchy night out.

* Bingo flaps being the saggy skin betwixt the armpit and elbow most often seen on overweight, elderly women playing bingo.

I found myself in Ft Myers on Valentines Day not wanting to wait at a busy restaurant to eat. I figured that Hooters would not be a place filled with couples like every other restaurant. While it was very busy there was seats at the bar. It was also right across the street from my hotel (decidable plus).

For chain restaurant wings, I'd prefer Buffalo Wild Wings.

Hartmann Aug 21, 2007 9:42 pm

I am not a Hooters fan, neither the food nor the staff really make me want to be there. As such, I've only been to three in my entire lifetime.

When I went to one in Houston (US59 and Kirby) our waitress was cute and nice but not very bright. Other than that, my experiences have been, well nothing to write home about.

thenelsons Aug 21, 2007 9:59 pm

Hula anyone?

My kids like the local Hooters for the hula hooping and bike riding they can do during dinner, other than that it is unremarkable. I did find it rather interesting once when my husband ordered oysters and they came to the table still in the shell the rather dim waitress was expecting my husband to shuck them himself-without bothering to bring an oyster knife.

mjcewl1284 Aug 22, 2007 3:20 am

I don't find Hooters to be top-notch, however it is a good place for wings.

There was one outside of Baltimore, MD that was actually decent (of all places).

TrueBlueFlyer Aug 22, 2007 11:19 am

Hooters is about as top-notch as any other slightly-slower fast food place like Bennigans, Fridays or Dave and Busters for that matter.

Had I known this thread was going to turn into a Hooters bashing thread I would have named it: the H(.y.)TERS BASHING thread!

There is much more to see or do in this world than going to fast food restaurants in NJ or FL and exactly none of these fast food places will be now (or ever) "top-notch".

Like what? determining whether MD booze is cheaper than NJ booze... or speculating whether old fat .....es have shorter hair? give me a break!

If you don't like the topic why waste your precious time in this world to spew out a negative response?

After about 2 years of no visits, I visited a Hooters a couple weeks back with a friend - and we were harassed by the waitress to buy merchandise. Apparently they have some "reward" system, based on merchandise sales. I thought that was pretty classless.

jimcfsus Aug 23, 2007 2:39 pm

I've found the southern Hoots have better eye candy than the northern ones. The one in CRW must hire HS girls as they are very young and not the "Hooter girl" type. The phrase "carpenter's delight" comes to mind. :D

WRT the wings... they aren't bad. I prefer Quaker Steak and Lube's wings much better.

Has anyone eaten anything OTHER than the wings/fries at Hoots?

Yes. I've had mediocre and overpriced chicken sandwiches and burgers at Hooters.

In DFW we now have a chain of Hooters knock-offs called Ker's Winghouse. They're marginally better than Hooters, though that's not saying much. http://www.winghouse.com/index.asp

A slight twist on the concept is Twin Peaks restaurant. Twin Peaks has better food and prices. Worth a visit. Especially if you like the bleached blonde massively siliconed type of waitress. http://www.twinpeaksrestaurant.com/

Seems to be consensus that the food here is nothing special (to be charitable). If I really want to blow my low-sodium diet, there's plenty of ways to do it here. Their hot ham and cheese sandwich isn't half-bad for greasy "comfort food".

As for the "eye candy", I guess its up to the individual as to whether its worth the trip.

Of course, I always enjoy the view. But, as is the case with the food, I don't consider it worth going out of the way for. About the only time I go is if there's one right by my hotel and I'm too tired or lazy to go anywhere else.

UCBeau Aug 23, 2007 8:45 pm

the hooters here in mission valley isn't half bad..then again, i go to school with some of the waitresses there :-/

TrueBlueFlyer Aug 24, 2007 7:24 am

speaking of Hooters knock-off's... there's BAZ(.y.)KA'S in NJ

similar bad food, and the eye candy is considerably fatter... but another sleazy alternative for a weekend car show type of meet.

I was curious, so I went to Hooter's once, when I was in Hollywood. We had only a short time to grab a bite before a show at the Chinese Theater, and there Hooters was. I figured that LA has to be crawling with wannabe starlets who need to pay the rent (i.e. future Hooters girls), so they ought to have above average scenery. What a joke! I have seen hotter young women working at Dairy Queen in Indiana. There are plenty of restaurants in greater LA where the waitstaff all appear to have modeling contracts, but Hooters isn't one of them.

Has anyone eaten anything OTHER than the wings/fries at Hoots?
Yes. My then-boyfriend had the chili and spent a couple of hours paying penance later in the evening.

I enjoyed the Hooters in Singapore. It covers both the Hooters experience and Asian fetishes. I have also made the pilgramage to the Original Hooters in Clearwater, FL.

The other Hooters of note I visited was Nairobi. After seeing it I stopped at a US Hooters, got a picture of the girls and took it back to Nairobi so they could see proper Hooters attire.
