Smoothie Time!

Hey guys,

I am not sure if this one has been done before but hey what has been your favourite concoction? It can be fruit or ice-cream etc.

I remember making a ice cold frapaccino with coffee and caramel topped with fresh cream and nuts. Oh it was good. :D

I've started making "green monster" smoothies in the morning. While it sounds strange, it tastes great & helps get me going. Recipes vary from person to person, but mine typically includes:
1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
1/2 scoop of protein powder
1/2 scoop of Trader Joe's Super Green Drink powder
1 heaping spoonful of ground flaxseed
1 spoonful of almond butter
1/2 banana*
Couple handfuls of blueberries (maybe 3/4 cup?)*
2 big handfuls of spinach

* Frozen, if possible, in which case I'll also add a splash of water. If they're not frozen, I'll add a few ice cubes

Blend it all together & you have a terrific meal.

Tjs new vanilla coconut milk (same packaging as soymilk)
Frozen papaya
Frozen mango

Flax seed

Ok, so I'm new to the smoothie concept. I just picked up a blender, and want to try smoothies.

My initial thought was vanilla yogurt, frozen strawberries, and adding in some ice so that it doesn't lose it's thickness.

Is that an acceptable smootie for a beginner? Or, do I need to add other things?

Ice dilutes, might want to try a banana for creaminess.

I'd actually think you'd need a bit more liquid, assuming you want a drinkable smoothie.

I'm not big on milk, which is why I don't know that I want to add it to smoothie.

You don't necessarily need milk. You can always use a dairy alternative (soy, almond, hemp, rice, coconut milk) or something different entirely, like water or fruit juice.

I also make a green smoothie. I start with either coconut water or filtered cold water. I froze fresh organic kale in freezer bags and I add half of a quart bag of kale. A bananna for creamyness and frozen blueberries and sometime frozen strawberries. Then I may add frozen cherries or grapes or a apple and maybe a bit of lemon or lime juice and a bit of stevia to taste. It is a healthy fast breakfast.
