Absolutely the worst cup I had was on Southwest.....greyhound of the skies serves it black, hot, cheap and it tastes like it!
They tried to tell me it was the water, but I have a neighbor that is one of their pilots that told me they buy the cheapest they can find.
With their ticket prices rising, you would think they could afford something much better! :confused:

Coffee Bags!

By comparison, Qantas' JetStar has okay Maxwell House coffee bags and it is fine, although JQ tries to charge AUD$2 for it.

At least we know what it is and can adjust the strength to one's taste. ^
By comparison, I was hoping Aloha's coffee would be a little better, but at least it is comlimentary. ;)

I seem to remember that Shuttle America used to serve really good coffee, back when they were flying Saabs for US Airways.

Another US Airways flight I was on a while back had a broken coffee maker. The FA lived near the airport, so she brewed coffee at home for the flight..^^

United serves Starbucks. How do you translate 'bitter' into multiple languages? :rolleyes:

And they serve a rather delicious French-press coffee in StarClass. ;)

For the night SYD-HNL sector it is probably worthwhile to upgrade at the counter to StarClass (~USD$200 to AUD$300). Instead, I'll put the $ toward the next HA special I can find (hint...let me know if you see a SYD special!)

Ahh, but what if it is from an establishment not airside? Worse yet, if the most ubiquitous coffee chain in the United States doesn't have a full-service post at that airport? *coughMDWcough*

The only decent coffee I've had on board a plane was an espresso on SQ: they seem to have decent ground coffee and proper espresso machines on board.

Otherwise, I always go for tea: there's only so far wrong you can go with tea bags (well, unless I see 'Lipton' or 'Pickwick' or similar). Coffee inevitably ends up being a horrible, sour, light roast, which I can't stand: coffee should be dark and bitter (IMO).

Ask the attendant to brew a fresh pot (at least in biz / first they're always happy to do so).

The person is probably a dunkin donuts drinker and doesn't understand what a dark roast is or tastes like. They have these things called coffee shops in airports and even the faux Starbucks they have in airports can make a decent Americano. It's your own fault if you're drinking crappy drip on a flight.

Did she smuggle it past TSA 3 ounces at a time?

AA supposedly serves starbucks but it sure does not taste like it.

I won't drink airline coffee, period. I can wait till landing. If I really need caffeine there's always Coke or Pocket Coffee.

If I ever fly Singapore or Quantas I'll look into the options mentioned. Otherwise I'll avoid the punishment--I love good coffee too much to drink weak sock water.

I definately wouldn't on CO. They are by far the worst in brewing coffee. Yuck! :td:
